Life, Love and Faith: A Mardi Gras Tribute to Allen Toussaint with Maria Muldaur and the Lucky Losers

  • Freight and Salvage Coffe House 2020 Addison Street Berkeley, CA, 94704 United States (map)

Revered as one of the master craftsmen and innovators of the 20th century for R&B, soul, and funk, Allen Toussaint deeply influenced the lives of fans and musicians alike with his powerful songs. Join us for this special tribute concert, celebrating the late, great New Orleans music legend.

A friend and collaborator of Allen Toussaint, 6 time Grammy nominated roots singer, Maria Muldaur headlines this rare tribute concert. Best known for her 1974 mega hit “Midnight at The Oasis, ”Muldaur’s 50-year career is due to her distinctive charisma, powerhouse voice, and an impressive body of work — 40 albums, to date. In the late ’70’s, she recorded Toussaint’s song “Play Something Sweet” and included it on her famous album, “Waitress in a Donut Shop”. In 2009, Muldaur covered “Yes, We Can, Can”, a Pointer Sisters hit penned by Toussaint, which became Barack Obama’s theme song for his presidential campaign.

San Francisco based blues and roots music duo The Lucky Losers (with their 7 piece band), host and share the stage for a dynamic opening set of their most cherished Allen Toussaint songs.
