Join us for an intimate evening of original songs & a few choice covers in one of Sacramento’s most elegant blues clubs, The Starlet Room (above Harlowe’s). The Lucky Losers (Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz) are joined by a stellar group of musicians.

Ian Lamson (guitar)
Since 1995, Ian Lamson has been a professional musician. He has mastered styles in blues, funk, R&B, Zydeco, rock, country, and Americana and toured with Elvin Bishop for 10 years. He has also backed greats like Charlie Musselwhite, George Thorogood, Steve Miller, Robben Ford, Chris Cain, Sista Monica, Zydeco Flames, and Angela Strehli. Elvin Bishop said after playing a set with Ian in 2018, “My god that fucker can really play and he got better!”

Joe Kyle Jr. (Upright Bass)
It was during the Great Swing Wars of early-1990s San Francisco, when gigs were plentiful, public cigar smoking was legal, and vintage clothes were still cheap, that Joe was fortunate enough to have been drafted into musical service. Since that time he has become an in-demand player known for his superb feel, musical agility, and adaptability. Joe has been touring and recording with The Waybacks since mid-2001, and in such capacity has shared the stage with a host of notable roots music heroes including Bob Weir, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Joan Osborne, Jerry Douglas, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Danny Barnes, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Grace Potter, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Jim Lauderdale and Bela Fleck.

Jon Otis (drums)
A Grammy nominated drummer, songwriter, and arranger, Jon played drums in his father's group The Johnny Otis Show in the early ‘70's as well as with other popular groups from the Bay Area. He has toured world-wide with his brother Shuggie Otis and legendary icons such as Solomon Burke, Elvin Bishop, Eddie “Cleanhead Vinson”. Jon possesses skill with African and African-Caribbean rhythms that combine with his strong East Bay Jazz and R&B training.
